ABOUT THE ANTHEM

England's Glance: Solemn Memory Won't Surrender is an anthem for England's Remembrance Day on November 11, which honors the memory of armed forces who have died in the line of duty.

This anthem defines Anglicanism at an intimate level (daily prayer) and at a global  level (Becket, saints, cathedrals.)  It represents an intimate connection with God and a connection between Heaven and Earth. The same with England, defining it globally and feeling it intimately.

It was written in appreciation and is offered in gratitude, with the intent to be shared as a gift to England. I  feel the same way about Jon Anderson. I  offer it to him in gratitude for 40 plus years of appreciation.

Jon can look at this in a few ways: intimately—it can be sung as a small song to go on an album—and/or globally—it can be created as an anthem and Jon can become, in essence, the voice of Anglicanism and England, similar to 'Jerusalem'.

Or, perhaps, a new vision for it.

ENGLAND'S GLANCE

Solemn Memory Won't Surrender

Call to Morning Prayer has begun

Find your soul and the spirit one

Even Song complere the day

Tomorrow's manner the same way

*Alternate: Was Jerusalem here to stay?

Present where who walks before me

Anglican Saints when martyred free

With your love I'm never lonely

God be with you my true only

See England's green and pleasant land

Created by the 'Love of Man'

Reveal beauty beyond measure

Sense of awe is our heart's treasure

Brilliant color arc above us

Hallowed sacred walls encompass

Royal pageantry and splendor

Solemn memory won't surrender

We can thank you for our journey

Where Saint Paul's found Heaven's yearning

Becket from Canterbury's lore

Resplendent at Saint Peter's door

Present where who walks before me

Anglican Saints when martyred free

With your love I'm never lonely

God be with you my true only
